Set to release their sophomore album this summer, Bay Area acoustic quartet sensation, Alma Desnuda (´Naked Soul´) is attracting success.

Featuring soulful contemporary rock and inspiring vocal harmonies, and often compared to the The Beatles and Jack Johnson, the internationally touring band has played sold-out venues from Yoshi’s Jazz Club in San Francisco to Central Park in New York.

Alma Desnuda also routinely integrates community outreach into their tours, by partnering with benefit organizations like Santana’s Milagro Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club. Nominated as “Most Socially Conscious Rockstar” by the Oakland Indie Awards, and on tour this summer, these tightly bonded brothers are bringing the community together through each energetic performance - putting into action the wisdom Santana shared with them during their joint performance at AT&T Park in San Francisco, “You attract who you are...”

Where’s Patricia?

Find her and you may find yourself in an Alma D video!

Our tour bus is a living being. Her name is Patricia, and if you pamper her, she’ll purr like a kitten and ride forever. We were stoked to arrive in Austin, TX with a free evening to paint Patty a new dress. Our kind and gracious hosts, documentarians D. Z. Heine and J. B. Klein made this time lapse for your viewing pleasure. Music by our friend and crew leader, Robin aka Dogman Joe.

***Find us on the road, have a photo taken of yourself in front of Patricia, post it to Facebook and we will put the photo in an upcoming Alma D video! Plus we’ll send you a special gift! … Please be creative, or in other words, don’t just moon the camera…

LIVESTRONG Foundation

We made a great connection with Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG Foundation this week. At our first show in Austin, a guy named Brian Meyers happened to be crusing 6th Street with some old friends from out of town and they overheard our sound check. Little did any of us know that we would end up setting up future collaborations with a foundation that is one of the foremost leaders in cancer awareness around the world.

We took a tour of the headquarters, a futuristic, eco-friendly building located in the heart of Austin, TX. We didn’t get to meet Lance (yet), but we did set ourselves up to collaborate on an event next year at SXSW Music Festival.

Plus, they left us a bunch of official LIVESTRONG wristbands, which we are offering today on ourt kickstarter project. The next 25 people to pledge will get one! http://4nakedsouls.com

Off to Dallas…

Riders Tour 2011

The road to Texas has been a hot one. 10 hour bus rides through dusty Arizona and New Mexico. Dirt and sweat are now part of the wardrobe.

Our beloved bus couldn’t take the heat and broke down outside Phoenix, Arizona and we spent the night atop a flatbed tow truck. Photgrapher Jayms Ramirez took some shots the following morning at the mechanic.

We are riding…

First few days on the road…..

I met the boys in LA a couple days ago, jumping on their tour bus and heading East. Supporting their upcoming CD, they are playing gigs for the next two mos around the country. The bus is huge with plenty of hang out space, bedding and windows…. They call her Patricia, and she has been a stubborn one with a few kinks being worked out of her on the jaunt through Arizona. We had a long day/night in Phoenix with mechanical problems and a lot of waiting around roadside. An adventurous night of tow trucks and burritos ended with all 8 of us sleeping quite well in Patricias’ mattresses…downtown Phoenix.

Had a much needed shower this morning and headed out to Arcosanti in the desert. Alma played a few songs for here to make amends for missing their first show ever the previous night, due to a bus breakdown….! the boys made sure to stop at Arcosanti no matter what….

Arcosanti is a educational center/communal living project started by one of Frank Lloyd Wrights students some years ago. the idea here is to live sustainably and without urban sprawl via smart design.

we are on our way to flagstaff where I hope to shoot the band when the light gets creamier out in the desert. the boys, along with Shanif, Denise and tour manager Dogman will continue to new Mexico and Texas after dropping me off at the airport in flagstaff. I’m headed back to SF… I’m a bit sad to leave Patricia and the daily adventures of a band spreading their music on the road…
